Job Description

Supports IOM's Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration outreach in the Apulia region by providing migrants with information and tailored return counselling. The role liaises with local authorities and service providers, manages AVRR applications and referrals, helps arrange return-related services and consolidates beneficiary data, profiling information and project success stories.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Establish local contacts with municipalities, NGOs and diaspora groups for AVRR information and referral work
  • Provide AVRR information sessions and individual counselling to third-country nationals
  • File AVRR applications through the Ministry of Interior system and maintain potential-returnee documentation
  • Share AVRR information material in coordination with the Project Coordinator
  • Assist migrants with application files and liaise with consulates on travel documents
  • Coordinate with Police Headquarters, Immigration Offices and Prefectures on eligibility assessment and authorization
  • Arrange transport for medical and non-medical cases with relevant medical facilities
  • Collect information for reporting, migrant profiling and dissemination of beneficiary stories

Role Requirements

  • University degree in listed related disciplines with two years of relevant experience, or high school diploma with four years
  • At least two years of working experience in the migration sector
  • Experience providing direct assistance to migrant populations, including vulnerable people
  • Fluency in Italian and English, oral and written

Desired Criteria

  • Previous AVRR counselling experience
