Job Description

Delivers outreach and counselling for IOM's assisted voluntary return and reintegration programme in Calabria. The post guides migrants considering return, manages application records and referrals, coordinates with Italian authorities and service providers, and compiles operational data, beneficiary information and project stories to support safe, timely AVRR assistance.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Build contacts with Calabria municipalities, NGOs, diaspora groups and other migration stakeholders to strengthen AVRR referrals
  • Deliver AVRR information sessions and tailored counselling to third-country nationals considering return
  • Submit AVRR applications through the Ministry of Interior online system and maintain complete potential-returnee files
  • Distribute AVRR information materials in coordination with the Project Coordinator
  • Support migrants to complete AVRR applications and forward files to the IOM AVRR Team, including travel-document follow-up
  • Liaise with Police Headquarters, Immigration Offices and Prefectures on assessment and authorization of eligible migrants
  • Help organize transport for medical and non-medical cases and obtain requested medical documentation
  • Compile statistical reporting, migrant profiles, beneficiary success stories and project testimonies

Role Requirements

  • University degree in International Relations, Law, Social, Political or Economic Sciences, Social Work, Migration or Development Studies, Psychology or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience; or High School diploma with four years
  • At least two years of working experience in the migration sector
  • Fluency in Italian and English, oral and written
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook

Desired Criteria

  • Previous working experience in AVRR counselling
