Job Description

Supports assisted voluntary return and reintegration outreach across Italy's Abruzzo Region. The role provides tailored counselling to migrants, builds referral links with public authorities and civil-society groups, and manages applications, documentation and reporting. It also coordinates practical support for return cases while strengthening local AVRR referral mechanisms.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Build contacts with municipalities, local entities, NGOs and diaspora groups to strengthen AVRR referral mechanisms
  • Provide AVRR information sessions and tailored counselling to third-country nationals considering return
  • Submit AVRR applications to competent Prefectures and maintain complete case documentation
  • Support migrants to complete applications and coordinate files with the IOM AVRR Team
  • Coordinate with Questure, Immigration Offices and Prefectures on assessment and authorisation processes
  • Help organise transport for medical and non-medical return cases and obtain required medical documentation
  • Compile statistics and migrant-profiling information and develop success stories on AVRR activities

Role Requirements

  • University degree in International Relations, Law, Social, Political or Economic Sciences, Social Work, Migration or Development Studies, Psychology or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience, or high school diploma with four years
  • At least two years of working experience in the migration sector
  • Experience providing direct assistance to migrant populations, including people in vulnerable situations
  • Experience working with Italian institutions, civil society and diaspora groups
  • Fluency in Italian and English in oral and written communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook

Desired Criteria

  • Previous experience in AVRR counselling
