Job Description

Supports IOM's assisted voluntary return and reintegration outreach in Umbria by connecting migrants with tailored return counselling and AVRR procedures. The role works with local institutions, police and service providers, helps arrange documentation and transport, and turns case-level information into reliable profiles, statistics and beneficiary stories for programme follow-up.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop working contacts with Umbria stakeholders, including municipalities, NGOs and diaspora groups, for AVRR information and referrals
  • Counsel third-country nationals on assisted voluntary return options and provide tailored information sessions
  • Enter AVRR applications in the Ministry of Interior online platform and organize returnee case files
  • Share AVRR outreach materials in coordination with the Project Coordinator
  • Help applicants complete forms, send files to the IOM AVRR Team and follow consular travel-document issuance
  • Coordinate with Police Headquarters, Immigration Offices and Prefectures on eligibility assessment and authorization processes
  • Support transport arrangements for medical and non-medical cases and obtain documentation requested by the IOM AVRR Doctor
  • Compile figures, migrant profiles, success stories and testimonies related to AVRR beneficiaries and activities

Role Requirements

  • University degree in International Relations, Law, Social, Political or Economic Sciences, Social Work, Migration or Development Studies, Psychology or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience; or High School diploma with four years
  • At least two years of working experience in the migration sector
  • Fluency in Italian and English, oral and written
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook

Desired Criteria

  • Previous working experience in AVRR counselling
