Job Description

Coordinates WFP Bolivia’s emergency, anticipatory-action and prevention work to deliver timely humanitarian assistance. The role manages field implementation, beneficiary processes and partner agreements, leads risk-informed planning and monitoring, and works with government, UN agencies and affected communities to strengthen disaster-risk reduction and resilience.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead emergency-project management and field implementation with cash-transfer and SCOPE teams
  • Coordinate cross-functional technical support and tools for emergency activities
  • Conduct rapid needs assessments and develop evidence-based response proposals
  • Undertake field visits to monitor implementation and recommend improvements
  • Prepare timely emergency-operation reports for management and donors
  • Manage implementing-partner agreements, proposals, budgets and field-level agreements
  • Coordinate anticipatory-action planning with technical partners, UN agencies and national authorities
  • Identify risk indicators and activation thresholds for early interventions
  • Integrate forecast-based financing into national plans and WFP programming
  • Support disaster-risk-reduction strategies and community resilience

Role Requirements

  • Bolivian nationality or a valid work permit at the time of application
  • University studies in geographic or environmental engineering, agronomy, risk management, territorial planning, data analysis or related fields
  • At least 3 years of specific experience in development projects
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Intermediate English
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and digital management platforms

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in climate analysis and forecasting for emergency operations in food security, development or nutrition
  • Experience formulating risk-management projects in Bolivia or managing them with government, international-cooperation or NGO partners
  • Experience working with international organisations, especially the United Nations and government counterparts
