Job Description

Supports UNISFA’s Aviation Unit in Entebbe to safeguard UN flight operations. The role schedules flights and clearances, coordinates ground handling and aircrew support, monitors aircraft movements and weather information, maintains dispatch and compliance records, and works with airport authorities to enable safe, efficient movement of aircraft, passengers, cargo and support services.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduling UN flights, airspace and landing clearances, and ground-handling services
  • Coordinate aircrew dispatch and facilitation with ground-handling agents
  • Verify cleaning, equipment, refuelling and transport services for mission aircraft
  • Check weather forecasts and NOTAMs and share information with relevant parties
  • Monitor aircraft movements using radios and flight-tracking systems
  • Maintain flight-following, dispatch and technical-compliance records and radio logs
  • Complete Aviation Operations Risk Management Checklists
  • Coordinate airport passes, authorizations, support equipment and hangar arrangements with civil aviation and airport authorities

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least three years of progressively responsible aviation experience, including two years directly related to air transport operations
  • English proficiency at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening and speaking

Desired Criteria

  • Technical or vocational certificate in Air Transportation, Aircraft Flight Operations, Dispatch, Safety Management or Air Operations
