WASH Specialist

The specialist leads UNICEF Sudan's climate-resilient water and sanitation portfolio, overseeing AfDB- and World Bank-funded infrastructure and institutional support, programme planning, humanitarian response, partner delivery, quality assurance, risk, results, donor compliance and sector learning.

Department: WASH

• Lead planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting across the Sudan WASH programme
• Provide technical oversight for climate-resilient water and sanitation infrastructure
• Coordinate African Development Bank and World Bank funded programmes
• Manage government, implementing-partner, donor and sector relationships
• Assure programme quality, resource use and compliance with funding agreements
• Lead humanitarian WASH preparedness and emergency response
• Manage programme risk and results-based performance monitoring
• Generate evidence and strengthen institutional capacity and programme learning

• Advanced university degree in engineering, environmental science, environmental health, public health, water management, social sciences, sanitary engineering or a related field
• At least five years of relevant experience in WASH, urban WASH, water engineering or WASH programme management in developing countries
• Experience managing donor-funded programmes
• At least one year of field experience and one year of deployment in a developing country
• At least one three-month humanitarian deployment with the United Nations, government or an international non-governmental organisation
• Fluency in English
