Job Description

Provides technical and programme-management leadership for WHO’s medical evacuation operations supporting critically ill patients from Gaza to Jordan. The Medical Evacuation Officer coordinates partners and contractors, manages the project workplan, reviews progress and quality, and develops protocols and corrective actions to sustain accountable humanitarian health operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice on medical evacuation and repatriation operations
  • Lead coordination of project workplan activities across teams and locations
  • Manage contractor delivery and quality control
  • Review programme achievements and progress indicators
  • Maintain liaison with government authorities, NGOs and receiving states
  • Develop protocols and corrective actions for medical evacuation operations

Role Requirements

  • First university degree in Medicine
  • At least five years of internationally exposed experience in health-sector coordination, critical patient care, transfers and medical evacuation
  • Expert knowledge of English and Arabic

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in MHPSS interventions in humanitarian emergencies
  • Experience in concept notes, proposal writing, logframes and budget development
  • Experience with WHO, UN agencies or humanitarian partners
