Overview

Strengthen WHO Africa systems for detecting and responding to substandard and falsified medical products. The volunteer supports national regulators and laboratories, coordinates surveillance data and partners, develops risk assessments and communication, and builds regional training and reporting capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Help countries implement action plans on substandard and falsified medical products
  • Strengthen national quality-control laboratories through visits and peer learning
  • Improve medical-device incident databases and post-market surveillance
  • Coordinate regional regulator, laboratory and partner networks
  • Manage and validate regional surveillance reports and incident data
  • Produce threat assessments and thematic briefs
  • Adapt risk-communication tools and support incident response
  • Deliver training and report programme performance indicators

Requirements

  • Relevant background in pharmaceuticals, pharmacology, pharmacoepidemiology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology or a related health or life-science field
  • At least five years of experience in medical-product market surveillance, control or pharmaceutical quality assurance
  • Experience strengthening regulatory or laboratory systems
  • English
