Job Description
Provides technical leadership for cancer prevention and control across the Eastern Mediterranean Region. The officer advises Member States, develops national cancer-control plans, strengthens childhood-cancer programmes and regional information networks, and coordinates evidence, capacity building and partnerships that advance practical cancer policies, services and access to essential medicines.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice to Member States on cancer prevention and control
- Draft and develop national cancer-control programmes and plans
- Assess childhood-cancer infrastructure, policies and plans in selected countries
- Coordinate information-exchange networks and disseminate WHO guidance for childhood cancer control
- Support national capacity building for the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer and access to cancer medicines
- Mentor consultants supporting regional cancer-control initiatives
- Undertake technical tasks on NCD and cancer prevention and control
Role Requirements
- University degree in Medicine, public health or a related area directly relevant to cancer control
- At least five years of relevant experience in medicine and public-health practice, including cancer control in low- and middle-income countries
- Expert knowledge of English
Desired Criteria
- Advanced university degree in oncology
- Experience in WHO, the UN system or international health organizations in the Eastern Mediterranean Region
