Job Description

Leads UNICEF Malawi’s end-to-end supply chain operations to deliver goods, services and construction works for children. The specialist oversees planning, procurement, logistics, warehousing and distribution; develops the supply team and government capacity; and drives risk management, innovation and emergency preparedness to improve value for money and operational resilience.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end supply chain operations for goods, services and construction works
  • Oversee supply planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution
  • Manage and develop the supply team and foster collaboration with stakeholders
  • Provide technical support to governments to strengthen national supply chain systems
  • Improve supply-chain performance, local market development and value for money
  • Lead logistics preparedness and response in emergencies

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract or Commercial Law, International Development, Health or a related social science field
  • At least 5 years of relevant national and international experience in supply, logistics, procurement, contract management, supply chain management, warehousing, customs clearance, vendor management, transportation, emergency logistics or public procurement
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience negotiating with suppliers, service providers, government counterparts or partners
  • Experience using supply-chain data, digital platforms or performance dashboards
  • Experience in emergency, fragile, landlocked or resource-constrained settings
  • Country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
