Logistics Officer

Plans and coordinates logistics under the contingent-owned-equipment framework for United Nations peacekeeping deployments, translating memoranda of understanding into mission support plans, movements, controls, contingency arrangements and verification work with contributing countries and field partners.

Department: Memorandum of Understanding and Reimbursement Policy Section

• Prepare logistics plans, deployment timelines, budgets and mission-specific procedures under memoranda of understanding
• Coordinate accountable and cost-effective movement of peacekeeping personnel and cargo
• Support air, land, sea and rail operations for field missions
• Coordinate logistics with procurement, finance, human resources and policy units
• Conduct technical and verification missions to troop-contributing countries
• Maintain logistics accounting, reporting, records and internal controls
• Prepare contingency plans and logistics preparedness reviews
• Guide junior staff and identify operational training needs

• Advanced university degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, law or another relevant field, or a first university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in transport, military or commercial logistics, international-organization logistics or a related area
• At least two years of experience negotiating memoranda of understanding with Member States for military or police deployments
• Experience implementing the contingent-owned-equipment framework through the Uniformed Capabilities Management System
• English at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening and speaking

• Initial one-year fixed-term appointment limited to the Department of Operational Support and subject to funding and mandate continuation
