Job Description
Provides SHAPE's J2 Geospatial Support Section with specialist capacity for geospatial-data architecture, metadata and governance. The temporary staff member develops repositories and data models, administers exchange platforms, supports interoperability across NATO communities, and translates complex technical information into usable guidance for data owners, systems administrators and operational stakeholders.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess location-based information and manage related data and metadata
- Design and maintain repositories for organisational data assets
- Manage geospatial data on PANGEA and other exchange platforms
- Develop data schemas and models for data-centric working
- Facilitate interoperability among data-owner communities
- Liaise with operations, requirements and standards stakeholders
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences
- Develop and apply data-governance approaches across organisational structures
Role Requirements
- Valid NATO or national security clearance, or a clearance that can be reactivated swiftly
- At least two years of experience with geolocated data and data science or analytics
- Knowledge of geospatial data management
- Intermediate vocational training in geography, computer science, information technology, business administration or a related discipline with two years' experience, or advanced vocational training with four years' experience
- English listening, speaking, reading and writing proficiency at SLP 3232
- Applicants must be nationals of a NATO member state
Desired Criteria
- Experience developing and fielding geographic information systems
- Bachelor's degree in geospatial studies or data analytics
- Knowledge of NATO GIS systems, geospatial data content, structures and workflows

- Temporary staff contract is expected to end on 31 December 2026 and may be extended
- Up to 40 days of temporary duty travel per year may be required
- Salary is exempt from Host Nation taxation
