Job Description
The Senior Adviser will lead UNICEF’s WASH and infection-prevention response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role provides strategic planning, technical guidance, mobilisation and inter-agency leadership, aligning WASH and IPC interventions with incident-management structures and evidence-based priorities while integrating them with health, logistics, community engagement and humanitarian response pillars.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead UNICEF’s WASH and IPC response to the Ebola outbreak
- Provide strategic planning, policy dialogue and technical guidance
- Lead WASH and IPC coordination across agencies
- Align government planning and technical priorities
- Prioritise operational response and cross-pillar integration
- Strengthen technical quality, evidence use and adaptive management
- Build partnerships, capacity and resources
- Manage risks and accountability
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in public health, environmental health, sanitary or environmental engineering, water and sanitation engineering, infection prevention and control, humanitarian assistance with a public-health specialisation or a related field
- At least ten years of progressively responsible WASH, IPC, public-health emergency or humanitarian-response experience
- Substantial senior leadership experience in complex emergencies
- Fluency in French and English
Desired Criteria
- Postgraduate training in public-health emergencies, epidemiology, humanitarian WASH, IPC or emergency response
- Experience with multi-partner WASH and IPC coordination in outbreak settings
- Experience in Ebola or viral haemorrhagic fever responses
- Experience advising senior leadership and managing teams in insecure settings
- Experience with ministries of health, WHO, UNICEF, Africa CDC and humanitarian partners
