Job Description

This field-based role delivers IOM’s hygiene-promotion and community-engagement work across WASH camps in Cox’s Bazar. The Project Associate will monitor partner activities, support community participation and behaviour-change work, build the capacity of field teams and committees, and use field data and feedback to improve safe, inclusive WASH services for Rohingya communities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor hygiene-promotion and community-engagement activities by WASH partners for quality and alignment with sector guidance
  • Coordinate hygiene-promotion activities and WASH non-food-item distribution with camp staff and warehouse teams
  • Conduct field visits to monitor construction and support community-led operation and maintenance of WASH facilities
  • Train and mentor volunteers, hygiene promoters and WASH committee members on hygiene practices and participatory approaches
  • Collect and analyse health, hygiene-behaviour and community-satisfaction data to improve programme planning
  • Support behavioural research and culturally appropriate information, education and communication materials
  • Strengthen inclusive community WASH committees and engage with the Cox's Bazar WASH-sector technical working group

Role Requirements

  • University degree in public health, community development, environmental science or a relevant field with at least three years of field experience, or School diploma with five years of relevant experience
  • Minimum three years of hygiene-promotion, community-engagement or behaviour-change experience
  • Fluency in English and Bengali
  • Open to Bangladesh nationals

Desired Criteria

  • Work experience with international humanitarian organisations or NGOs in multicultural settings
  • Chittagonian or Rohingya language
