Job Description

Conducts performance audits of NATO bodies and, where assigned, NATO Security Investment Programme expenditure for the International Board of Auditors for NATO. The auditor supports primary auditors, may lead less complex audits, applies international auditing standards, develops professional expertise and prepares clear audit findings and reports while working with auditees, national representatives and audit colleagues.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assist Primary Auditors on performance audits of NATO bodies
  • Lead less complex performance audits when required
  • Support audits of NATO Security Investment Programme expenditure
  • Maintain and develop audit expertise and knowledge of NATO audit practice
  • Prepare and present timely audit reports and findings
  • Communicate audit results with the Board, auditors and auditees
  • Control the quality, quantity and relevance of audit data
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and efficient information flow in the audit team

Role Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent qualification
  • At least 4 years of relevant performance-audit experience
  • Knowledge of ISSAI standards and current performance-auditing techniques including audit software
  • English or French at advanced level and the other official NATO language at beginner level
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout NATO member countries and work outside normal hours
  • Nationality of a NATO member country

Desired Criteria

  • Data-analytics experience in performance audit
  • Project-management methodology experience or PRINCE2 certification
  • Performance-audit experience with a national Supreme Audit Institution
  • Knowledge of International Federation of Accountants auditing standards
