Conducts external financial-statement and investment-programme audits of NATO reporting entities and other assigned bodies. The auditor leads engagements, reviews team work, evaluates evidence against international standards and presents clear findings that support accountability and policy improvement.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead financial-statement audits of NATO reporting entities and audits of NATO Security Investment Programme expenditure
  • Plan engagements, assign audit work and review evidence prepared by audit teams
  • Evaluate financial statements, systems and controls against applicable international standards
  • Prepare audit findings, recommendations and reports for the Board's approval
  • Present audit results and recommendations to audited organisations and NATO stakeholders
  • Contribute to annual work plans, audit policy and the development of audit expertise

Role Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent qualification
  • At least 6 years of financial-statement audit experience
  • Knowledge of INTOSAI Standards and International Standards on Auditing
  • Advanced proficiency in one NATO official language and elementary proficiency in the other
  • Nationality of a NATO member country
  • Ability to travel extensively and work outside normal office hours when required

Desired Criteria

  • Information-systems audit experience and CISA certification
  • Experience auditing cost statements
  • Membership in a professional accountancy or audit institution
  • Experience in a national Supreme Audit Institution
  • Knowledge of IPSAS and IFRS

  • Extensive travel for approximately half of the working year
  • Appointment is subject to security clearance, medical approval and verification of credentials
  • Definite-duration contract renewable twice up to a maximum of 9 years
