Responsibilities
- Draft reports on Allied national plans, policies and capability targets
- Prepare speaking notes, committee material and defence-planning policy documents
- Coordinate advice to individual Allies and prepare senior leadership for engagements
- Build expert networks with national defence planners and NATO Enterprise staff
- Represent the Defence Planning Directorate in meetings with national authorities
- Plan and manage execution of NATO Defence Planning Process Step 5 products
- Coordinate bilateral and multilateral meetings with Allied delegations and NATO staffs
Requirements
- NATO member-country nationality
- University degree in a relevant field or NATO or national military joint staff college attendance at OF-3 level or higher
- At least 6 years of experience in land, maritime, aerospace, joint or enabling forces and capabilities with good knowledge of joint operations
- Considerable experience in defence planning or military capability development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Advanced level in one NATO official language and beginner level in the other

Additional info
- Frequent travel is required, approximately 40% of working time
- Three-year definite-duration contract, renewable for up to three further years
- Maximum period of service foreseen for the post is six years
- Appointment is subject to security clearance, medical approval and verification of studies and work experience
- Teleworking and flexible-working arrangements may be available subject to business requirements
