Job Description

Supports NATO BICES financial operations across budgeting, accounting, cash management and procurement. The assistant prepares execution reports, verifies commitments and payments, maintains ERP and accounting records, supports financial statements and audits, and coordinates funding with project teams and suppliers.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Prepare budget estimates and regular budget-execution reports
  • Verify funding availability for procurement commitments
  • Process invoices, payments, purchase orders and contracts
  • Maintain accounting records, authorizations and financial files
  • Reconcile balance-sheet accounts and protect transactional integrity
  • Support financial statements, audits and status reporting
  • Assist treasury, disbursement and project-completion activities
  • Coordinate with project managers, national representatives, NATO bodies and suppliers

Role Requirements

  • Higher secondary education and at least three years of experience in economics, accounting, business administration, finance or a related discipline
  • International or multinational financial rules and procedures knowledge
  • Public-sector or international-organisation budget preparation and control experience
  • Financial-statement preparation and day-to-day financial transaction experience
  • Practical accounting-record experience
  • ERP and office-software experience
  • English at NATO Level V
  • Nationality of a NATO member country
  • Eligibility for required security, medical and accreditation clearances

Desired Criteria

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification is advantageous
  • IPSAS and NATO Financial Regulations experience is advantageous
  • Oracle E-Business Suite and international-environment experience are advantageous
  • French at NATO Level II is desirable
