Job Description

NATO’s Science and Technology Organization seeks a Strategy Implementation Officer in Brussels to plan and monitor execution of the NATO S&T Strategy. The role develops implementation measures, policy frameworks and tools; identifies gaps across the S&T Enterprise; prepares progress reports; supports governance documents and directives; and coordinates strategic outreach and partnerships.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and plan implementation measures for the STO across strategic goals and objectives
  • Develop policy frameworks and tools that streamline strategy-implementation processes
  • Consult within the NATO S&T Enterprise on STO-led implementation initiatives
  • Maintain an overview of ongoing and planned implementation measures
  • Analyse implementation measures, identify gaps and propose actions
  • Draft implementation updates and support reports to the Science and Technology Board and Council

Role Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in strategy implementation, programme management or organizational development
  • Track record delivering complex projects and initiatives in multinational settings
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project-management and communication skills
  • Degree in a scientific, technical, engineering or mathematical discipline, or master degree in international relations, defence, business administration or related field
  • Very good knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other official NATO language

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with defence, security or scientific research is an asset
  • Planning, programming and budgeting experience is desirable
  • Database design, management and maintenance experience is desirable
  • Leadership, negotiation, meeting-chairing and presentation skills are desirable
