Job Description

Provides technical and programme support for UNICEF Kenya's Food Systems for Children portfolio, translating global guidance into country-level plans, policy inputs, partnerships and evidence products. The specialist advances First Foods Africa, healthier food environments and climate-nutrition action while strengthening implementation quality, advocacy, knowledge generation and multisectoral coordination.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support planning and monitoring for food-systems initiatives and climate-nutrition agendas
  • Provide technical and operational support for programme implementation
  • Develop tools, guidance and evidence products for food-systems programming
  • Oversee grant implementation and quality assurance for nutrition food-systems work
  • Build partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, donors, academia and technical institutions
  • Support advocacy, knowledge generation and dissemination for food systems for children

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Food Systems, Food Science or a relevant social or health-related science, or a relevant bachelor's degree with two additional years of experience
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in food systems, nutrition-sensitive programming or related programme areas
  • Experience supporting programme development, implementation, monitoring and reporting
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of Kiswahili or another Kenyan language
  • Knowledge of another official UN language
  • Experience in first foods, child food poverty, market systems or multisectoral food-systems implementation
  • Experience in climate-responsive nutrition or anticipatory action
  • Experience with the UN system, government or development partners in Kenya
