Advisor, Veterinary Epidemiology and Information System

Leads PAHO technical cooperation on veterinary public health, zoonoses prevention and One Health surveillance across the Americas. The role directs PANAFTOSA’s Epidemiology Unit, strengthening integrated information, preparedness and response systems while supporting Member States with epidemiological analysis, capacity building and evidence-based animal-disease control.

• Provide technical cooperation on prevention, surveillance, control and elimination of animal diseases and zoonoses
• Strengthen integrated human-animal-environment surveillance and response systems
• Support veterinary public health projects through study design and epidemiological analysis
• Develop capacity-building initiatives with national and international partners
• Manage PANAFTOSA's Epidemiology Unit, workplans and technical teams

• University degree in health, biological or veterinary sciences and a master's degree in epidemiology, veterinary preventive medicine, microbiology, veterinary public health or a related discipline
• Nine years of national and international experience in epidemiology, public health or related fields
• Experience in surveillance, epidemiology and risk analysis of animal diseases with implications for food and health security
• Experience using epidemiological information systems, GIS and statistical software
