Overview

Manages UNESCO’s peacebuilding-through-religious-education project in Somalia. The officer oversees delivery, partners, procurement, contracts, budgets, monitoring and reporting; coordinates government, UNICEF and donors; shares results; and provides technical support on inclusive early-childhood Quranic education.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day project implementation and quality
  • Update workplans and support overall project management
  • Plan procurement and monitor contracts, providers and disbursements
  • Coordinate government, UNICEF, donors and development partners
  • Monitor budgets, progress, results and evaluation activities
  • Prepare meeting records, donor reports and action plans
  • Disseminate results through workshops, webinars and publications
  • Provide policy advice and technical assistance on education and peacebuilding
  • Mobilise UNESCO expertise and share international good practice

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education, social sciences, peace studies or a closely related field
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in technical assistance and project management in education, teacher training or skills development
  • Experience supporting government education or training reform
  • Fluent English
  • Fluent Somali
