Overview

Supports UNODC’s maritime-security programme in the Maldives by coordinating capacity building, technical assistance, monitoring, research and regional events, helping law-enforcement and justice partners strengthen cooperation and responses to organised crime in the Indian Ocean.

Responsibilities

  • Identify technical-assistance needs and strategies for maritime law-enforcement capacity
  • Support implementation of maritime-security activities in the Maldives
  • Monitor activities and prepare SWOT, survey and outcome reports
  • Design and coordinate regional capacity-building programmes and joint exercises
  • Draft background papers, briefings, analytical notes and report sections
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops and conferences on maritime security
  • Support Indian Ocean field missions with substantive, administrative and data-collection assistance
  • Analyse emerging maritime-security issues and strengthen regional information-sharing

Requirements

  • Education in Law, Social Sciences, Project Management, International Relations or a related field
  • At least three years of project-management or implementation experience, preferably in maritime security
  • Monitoring and evaluation experience using SWOT reports, surveys and outcome reporting
  • Experience organising regional or international events and meetings
  • Excellent written and spoken English and strong drafting and reporting skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, internet and database management
