Job Description

The Logistics Assistant will support UNICEF Afghanistan’s in-country supply chain by helping essential programme supplies reach their destination efficiently and on time. The role provides operational and administrative support for shipment monitoring, customs clearance, transport, warehousing, distribution and inventory controls, working with programme and supply colleagues and service providers to maintain compliant logistics operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support shipment and pipeline monitoring
  • Coordinate customs clearance, transport, warehousing and distribution activities
  • Liaise with programme and supply colleagues and external service providers
  • Maintain logistics documentation and monitor service-provider performance
  • Support storage-capacity assessments, supply receipt and dispatch
  • Monitor stock levels and expiry dates using FIFO and FEFO principles
  • Support physical inventory counts, internal controls and commodity disposal

Role Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by supply-chain, business-administration, contract-law or related technical courses
  • At least five years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management with logistics, warehousing, customs clearance and transportation
  • Knowledge of supply-chain and logistics processes, public-sector procurement and relevant policies and procedures
  • Fluency in English
  • Open to nationals of Afghanistan and candidates holding a valid Afghanistan work permit

Desired Criteria

  • Experience using SAP ERP systems
  • Country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
