Interpretation of 2026 UNHCR Global Consultations with NGOs (English/Spanish)

UNHCR needs an online UNV interpreter for its 2026 Global Consultations with NGOs, a three-day event on safeguarding asylum and strengthening protection. The volunteer will prepare assigned sessions, deliver accurate English–Spanish interpretation, coordinate handovers with a partner and flag technical or terminology issues so refugee-led and civil-society participants can participate.

• Attend the assignment briefing and review agenda, session information, glossary and relevant materials
• Complete onboarding, including the Confidentiality Undertaking and Code of Conduct
• Participate in a technical test and interpretation rehearsal before the event
• Familiarize with terminology on refugee protection, asylum, statelessness and civil-society engagement
• Join assigned sessions early for technical and coordination checks
• Provide accurate, impartial and protection-sensitive interpretation between English and Spanish
• Coordinate handovers with the assigned partner interpreter
• Flag technical, connectivity, audibility or terminology issues and provide post-session feedback

• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Ability to provide accurate, impartial and protection-sensitive interpretation
• Completion of the required onboarding, Confidentiality Undertaking and Code of Conduct

• Familiarity with technical terms related to refugees, civil society and international organizations
• Previous interpretation and translation experience
