Job Description

Supports the IIIM Information Systems Management Section with open-source research on the Syrian situation. The full-time intern examines political, economic, social, technological and legal issues; contributes to information governance, data analysis and script development; compiles findings into an internal presentation; and protects the confidentiality of sensitive records and information.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct targeted open-source research and analysis
  • Research and summarise political, economic, social, technological and legal issues related to Syria
  • Support information-governance, data-analysis and script-development work
  • Compile research and analysis into a final presentation for IIIM
  • Complete assigned work accurately and on time
  • Maintain confidentiality of all accessed records and information

Role Requirements

  • Enrolment in or completion of a graduate programme, or the final academic year of a bachelor-level programme
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Commitment to confidentiality of unpublished IIIM information

Desired Criteria

  • Relevant coursework in international relations, journalism, law, information governance, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, privacy law, digital forensics, data science, engineering or software engineering
  • Knowledge of French or Arabic
