Job Description

Coordinates the 2gether 4 SRHR regional programme for UNFPA and partner agencies, advancing sustainable financing and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights in Eastern and Southern Africa. The consultant supports country programmes, technical assistance and knowledge hubs, while convening partners and developing advocacy, communications and evidence products for regional action.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Convene regional and interagency platforms for coordinated SRHR action
  • Develop, implement, monitor and report programme workplans
  • Support countries with SRHR workplans, budgets, technical assistance and implementation documentation
  • Oversee studies, assessments and knowledge products on SRHR
  • Support national SRHR policies, strategies and guidelines
  • Develop and maintain the regional technical-assistance and knowledge hubs
  • Convene stakeholders to share promising practices in SRHR programming
  • Coordinate regional advocacy and develop messages for senior policy makers

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies or a related field
  • At least five years of professional experience in programme and project management and coordination
  • At least five years of SRHR experience including policy formulation, research and advocacy
  • Experience providing SRHR technical assistance to countries and ministries of health in Eastern and Southern Africa
  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office packages and internet tools

Desired Criteria

  • Previous experience with the United Nations or an international institution or organisation
  • Experience in comprehensive abortion care

  • Based at UNFPA ESARO in Johannesburg with remote work by agreement
