Finance Associate

Strengthens UNICEF Malawi’s financial accountability and operational efficiency through accurate finance and accounting support. The associate supplies reliable information and analysis, supports stewardship, payments and compliance, resolves discrepancies, maintains audit-ready records and guides colleagues and partners on procedures so resources are used effectively for children.

• Provide finance and accounting support that strengthens financial management, compliance and resource use
• Deliver accurate financial information, analysis and services for decision-making and accountability
• Guide internal and external stakeholders on financial procedures
• Analyze financial data, identify discrepancies and resolve irregularities
• Maintain audit-ready records and support reconciliations, reporting and transaction processing
• Contribute to continuous improvements in UNICEF Malawi’s finance operations

• Completion of secondary education
• At least six years of relevant experience in financial management, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, treasury, expense management, financial compliance or financial analysis
• Fluency in English

• Knowledge of another official UN language
• Experience working with UNICEF, UN agencies, international organizations or public-sector finance environments
• Familiarity with IPSAS-based accounting principles, donor funding management and financial compliance requirements
• Relevant country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
