Summary of Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile financial records, expenditures, balances, payments and statements
- Verify source documents, calculations and transaction data for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare recurring and special reports for budgets, audits and operational needs
- Advise staff and consultants on allowances, advances, travel claims and other payments
- Liaise with banks on exchange rates, procedures, regulations and office accounts
- Prepare cost estimates and support budget analysis and projections
- Draft and maintain finance procedures and guidance while identifying process improvements
- Guide and supervise support staff and resolve transaction exceptions within delegated authority
Role Requirements
- High school diploma with three years of relevant experience, or bachelor's degree or higher with two years of relevant experience
- Practical ability to process financial transactions and maintain accurate records
- IT proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise resource planning applications
- English proficiency at B2 level or above
- Legal right to work in Hungary from the first day of employment
Desired Criteria
- Cloud ERP experience
- Knowledge of UNHCR financial rules and procedures
- Completion of relevant UNHCR learning programmes or training
- Knowledge of accrual-based accounting standards such as IPSAS or IFRS
- Ability to implement financial controls and process improvements
- Ability to mentor and train support staff

- Temporary appointment targeted from 1 September 2026 to 30 August 2027
- Local recruitment requires existing authorisation to work in Hungary and does not provide visa support
- Relocation expenses are borne by candidates selected from outside the duty station
- Hardship level H with family status
- Temporary appointees accrue 18 working days of annual leave per year and may join the UN pension fund when appointed for at least six months
