Summary of Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions and verify source documents, calculations and record completeness
- Maintain and reconcile expenditure, payment, balance and account records
- Prepare recurring financial reports, audit documentation and special management reports
- Calculate payments, allowances, travel claims and cost estimates in accordance with financial rules
- Support budget analysis, projections and month-end or year-end closure activities
- Liaise with staff, suppliers and banks to resolve financial queries and transaction exceptions
- Draft and maintain finance standard operating procedures and guidance notes
- Identify process improvements and provide guidance, training or supervision to support staff
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma with at least three years of relevant experience
- Practical experience processing financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations or master data management
- Experience using financial modules of a major ERP system such as Oracle or SAP
- Proficiency in preparing financial reports, reconciliations and audit-ready documentation
- Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills in a multicultural team environment
- Experience collaborating with internal staff and external stakeholders
- English at B2 level or higher
- Legal presence in Hungary and authorisation to work there at recruitment
Desired Criteria
- Experience with Cloud ERP
- Knowledge of UNHCR financial rules and procedures
- Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or other relevant finance training
- Knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS and accrual-based accounting
- Ability to contribute to process improvements and financial controls
- Ability to mentor or supervise support staff
