Job Description
Supports United Nations financial reporting and budget work in New York. The assistant will prepare programme plans, cost estimates and budget submissions, monitor expenditures and databases, scrutinise accounting transactions, reconcile accounts, consolidate financial-statement data, respond to queries and help ensure IPSAS-compliant reporting and compliance with financial rules.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Prepare programme-plan revisions, cost estimates and budget proposals
- Monitor expenditures and prepare budget adjustments
- Review requisitions and verify funds availability
- Scrutinise source documents and correct erroneous charges
- Reconcile suspense accounts and extract accounting data for verification
- Consolidate data into financial statements and support audits
Role Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 10 years of finance, budget or accounting experience, reduced to 8 years with a first-level degree
- Experience with finance and budget systems
- Fluency in English
