Job Description
Conduct IOM's Baseline Sub-Area Assessment across Malawian Traditional Authorities, collecting evidence on climate-induced displacement and community conditions. Enumerators interview key informants, document vulnerabilities and access constraints, protect data confidentiality, coordinate field issues with DTM and government focal points, and submit daily reports with actionable recommendations.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Attend training on the DTM Baseline Assessment methodology, tools and implementation plan
- Identify reliable information sources and key informants for household-level impact data
- Conduct Baseline Sub-Area Assessments and interviews at Group Village Headperson level
- Liaise with the DTM team and District Government Focal Point on field issues
- Document vulnerabilities, community needs and access constraints systematically
- Submit daily progress reports, field challenges and actionable recommendations
Role Requirements
- Diploma in information management systems, statistics, social sciences, community development, disaster risk management, meteorology, climate science, earth sciences or a related field
- Malawian nationality with local knowledge of the targeted programme districts
- Strong knowledge of mobile data collection platforms, particularly Kobo Toolbox, computer literacy and familiarity with Android operating systems
- Proficiency in local languages and dialects pertinent to the assessment area
Desired Criteria
- Prior data-collection experience across Traditional Authorities covered by the assessment
- At least two years of data-collection experience in humanitarian, emergency or community-based assessment contexts
- Previous IOM or DTM assessment experience
