Job Description
The Engineer leads and coordinates engineering services for a high-threat UN field mission in Haiti. The post directs infrastructure, construction, utilities and facilities work; manages design, technical specifications, contracts and contractors; supports field installations and physical-security works; and provides planning, reporting, cost-control and technical advice to the Chief Engineer and mission stakeholders.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors and technical personnel delivering mission projects
- Plan and monitor engineering activities against scope, time, cost and quality parameters
- Provide technical advice on design, construction, utilities, facilities and physical-security works
- Prepare and review specifications, scopes of work, quantities, drawings, estimates and schedules
- Manage task orders, contract administration, contractor performance and certification of works
- Coordinate engineering requirements with procurement, supply chain, finance, security and mission stakeholders
- Supervise construction, rehabilitation and field-facility works
- Conduct inspections, quality controls and handover verification for completed works
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering, architecture or a related area, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
- At least seven years of progressively responsible engineering-project experience including two years at international level
- Experience planning, designing, implementing or supervising infrastructure, construction, utilities or facilities projects
- Experience in physical-security engineering works
- Experience preparing or reviewing engineering scopes, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, drawings or schedules
- Experience in engineering contract management
- Experience supervising engineering teams, contractors or technical personnel
- English proficiency
Desired Criteria
- Professional registration, licence or chartered status as an engineer or architect
- Training in construction management, engineering contract management, quantity surveying, cost engineering, structural assessment, infrastructure management, facilities engineering, water and sanitation engineering, electrical systems, power generation or occupational safety
- Training related to physical-security infrastructure, protective design, blast mitigation, perimeter security or access control
- Experience in a UN or comparable high-risk field operation
- Experience establishing or rehabilitating temporary or semi-permanent field facilities
- Experience using Umoja, SAP or comparable enterprise resource planning systems
- Experience supporting senior engineering management
