Working with industry specialists, consulting firms and clients, the consultant assesses energy and emissions baselines, evaluates electrification and renewable options, develops climate-transition recommendations, and helps clients implement practical pathways to lower-carbon real estate portfolios

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assess sustainability strategies and identify improvement opportunities for real estate decarbonization projects
  • Evaluate energy efficiency, storage, building electrification and renewable measures for their feasibility
  • Conduct or review baseline assessments for real estate portfolio emissions
  • Develop recommendations on climate goals, decarbonization pathways and greenhouse-gas reductions
  • Review capital-expenditure plans against emissions targets, savings and payback periods
  • Review renewable-energy options and frameworks for tracking client roadmaps

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree in building science, architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, sustainability or a closely related field
  • Minimum five years of operational experience in real estate decarbonization, building energy efficiency or technical advisory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in a real estate company, sustainability consultancy or technical advisory firm is strongly preferred
  • Exposure to IFC, an MDB or a financial institution on private-sector advisory projects in emerging markets is an advantage
  • Additional language proficiency relevant to IFC operational regions is an asset
