Overview

UNDP Nepal seeks an analyst to assure the quality and sustainability of early-warning systems for glacial-lake flood risk. The role validates designs and protocols, oversees installation, trains institutions and communities, develops response plans, and builds interoperable disaster-data systems, dashboards and decision tools.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate early-warning system designs, protocols and operating procedures
  • Monitor contractors during installation and commissioning
  • Ensure warnings and community response plans are inclusive and actionable
  • Train government personnel and communities and support drills and awareness campaigns
  • Develop disaster-information data standards and management protocols
  • Integrate early-warning data with national platforms
  • Create dashboards and decision-support reporting mechanisms

Requirements

  • Master's degree in disaster-risk management, engineering, environmental science or a relevant field, or bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience
  • For bachelor's degree holders, at least two years of experience in disaster-risk management and early-warning systems
  • Fluency in English and Nepali
