Job Description
Prepares a paper on food systems across Arab States for ESCWA. The consultancy assesses current conditions, vulnerabilities and cross-national linkages while examining climate, water, market and conflict pressures. It translates regional data and examples into recommendations for investment and cooperation that strengthen food security, nutrition, livelihoods and food-system resilience.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Frame food-systems transformation in the Arab region
- Review food-system conditions and cooperation examples across Arab countries
- Examine climate, water, natural-resource, conflict and market drivers of vulnerability
- Assess cross-national flows of food, inputs, finance, technology and knowledge
- Identify opportunities for regional cooperation
- Provide investment and cooperation recommendations for resilient food systems
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in food security, food systems, economics, public policy, agriculture, climate change, sustainable development or a related field
- At least ten years of professional experience in food systems with regional development experience related to the Arab region
- Experience writing reports and papers for international organisations
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- PhD in a relevant field
- Experience conducting quantitative analysis and interpretation
- Knowledge of Arabic
- Knowledge of French
