Job Description
Supports installation and integration work for the ATLAS detector during CERN’s Long Shutdown 3. The junior mechanical technician will help move components, set up platforms and work areas, and position sub-detectors, interpret drawings, perform dimensional checks and manufacture parts using conventional machining while applying rigorous safety standards in a cutting-edge physics environment.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Participate in ATLAS detector movements and installation of access platforms
- Support sub-detector installation, handling, transport and positioning activities
- Prepare work areas and tooling and provide logistical support for detector interventions
- Interpret mechanical drawings and perform basic dimensional checks
- Manufacture parts and tooling through drilling, milling and turning when required
Role Requirements
- National of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State
- Maximum 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field
- General secondary education diploma or shorter non-university degree; bachelor’s, master’s and PhD holders are ineligible
- Spoken and written English or French, with commitment to learn the other language
- Valid driving licence and medical clearance

Additional Information
- Fully onsite 24-month contract with possible extension to 36 months
- Monthly net stipend: CHF 4,687
- Work may include radiation areas, underground installations and nights, Sundays or holidays
