Area Education Officer

Leads the delivery of basic education across an UNRWA area office in Ramallah. The officer supervises education specialists and school leaders, manages school performance and administrative resources, and coordinates student support services. The role maintains safe learning environments, improves academic outcomes, and builds relationships with communities, NGOs and government institutions.

• Ensure delivery of quality basic education services and improve student academic achievement
• Provide technical supervision and guidance to school principals and deputy principals
• Manage principals' performance, goals, feedback, awards and training needs
• Coordinate remedial teaching, psychosocial counselling, medical referral and special-needs support
• Administer school staff, students, premises, equipment and supplies under UNRWA guidelines
• Build constructive relationships with community leaders, NGOs and government institutions

• Advanced university degree in education or a subject taught in UNRWA schools
• At least seven years of teaching or instruction experience in relevant subjects
• At least three years as a school principal or in similar administrative or supervisory capacity
• Valid driving licence
• English at UN Level II
• Arabic at UN Level III

• PhD in education or a related subject is desirable
• Residence in the West Bank or Jerusalem and a valid local ID are desirable
