This UNICEF specialist leads advocacy and communications in Sri Lanka to advance children’s rights and equitable development. The role develops advocacy, communication, digital and media strategies; builds partnerships and coalitions; turns policy issues into compelling narratives; manages projects, budgets and results; and strengthens capacity to deliver change for children and young people.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop advocacy strategies
- Implement advocacy initiatives
- Develop and implement communication strategies
- Manage digital communications and media relations
- Monitor and evaluate advocacy and communication work
- Manage related projects and budgets
- Build stakeholder partnerships and coalitions
- Strengthen advocacy and communication capacity
Role Requirements
- Master's degree in public policy, political science, international relations, international development, public administration, economics, communication or a related field
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in advocacy, campaigning and communications
- Knowledge of children’s rights, public policy, international development and humanitarian issues
- Experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies with theories of change and performance indicators
- Experience in digital and social-media content, media relations and online platforms
- Fluency in English
- Sri Lankan nationality
Desired Criteria
- Track record of tangible policy change
- Experience with advocacy tactics based on a theory of change
- Experience designing and managing projects, budgets and results
- Experience in international advocacy or emergency communications
- Experience with UNICEF, the UN system or an international organization
- Knowledge of another UN official language or Sinhala and Tamil
