Job Description
Co-leads delivery of an urban resilience project in Rio de Janeiro state's Mountain Region, translating sustainable-development and disaster-risk frameworks into local action. The consultant will coordinate planning, implementation and monitoring, oversee technical deliverables and risk management, work with government and community partners, and build capacity through training, workshops and technical assistance.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Coordinate urban and climate-resilience awareness activities in line with programme documents and agreements
- Prepare and review deliverables against agreed outcomes and indicators
- Coordinate workplans, narrative progress reports and expenditure-status reports for programme coordination
- Establish programme planning, implementation and monitoring systems with partners
- Identify and mitigate risks affecting project products and implementation
- Support local partners through technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity-development initiatives
- Monitor implementation activities and fund expenditure and document product delivery
- Organise trainings, workshops, events and knowledge products with partners
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Urbanism, Environmental Engineering, Geography or a related field, or an additional three years of relevant experience
- At least three years of experience in project coordination, team leadership, technical advisory or community mobilisation related to urban development or disaster-risk management in Brazil
- Professional experience in public policy, public administration, sustainability, social and urban development, public spaces or stakeholder coordination
- Fluency in Portuguese
- Brazilian nationality or permanent visa in Brazil
Desired Criteria
- Postgraduate degree in Civil Protection, Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change Adaptation or a related field
- Experience related to climate change
- Experience reducing disaster risk
- Previous experience within the UN system
- Knowledge of project-management methodologies
- Experience using technological tools, software and online platforms

Additional Information
- Consultancy duration: six months
- Monthly allowance is paid following presentation and approval of the monthly activities report
- Travel within Brazil may be required and missions are financed under UN-Habitat travel rules
- BSAFE accreditation is required during the first month
- Contract extension is subject to funding availability and performance
