Job Description

The Systems Administrator supports WHO's Information Technology Management unit by provisioning and maintaining cloud infrastructure, identity controls and deployment services. The role monitors security and performance, manages backup and recovery, supports Azure users and DevOps changes, coordinates upgrades and documents configurations to ensure resilient, cost-effective technical operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provision and maintain cloud services, virtual networks, virtual machines and Kubernetes clusters
  • Monitor system performance, availability and security events
  • Manage identity and access controls and conduct access reviews
  • Execute backup, patching and disaster-recovery procedures
  • Support infrastructure-as-code, deployments and version control
  • Identify unused resources and cost anomalies and coordinate remediation
  • Lead deployment sessions, architecture reviews and cybersecurity risk assessments
  • Provide Azure-user support and maintain technical documentation

Role Requirements

  • Three years of hands-on cloud infrastructure administration experience
  • Familiarity with cloud governance, compliance auditing, cost optimisation and access controls
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, networking, subnets and troubleshooting
  • Required English

Desired Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or a related field
  • Azure administration certification
  • AWS or GCP certification with willingness to adapt
