Responsibilities
- Prepare the annual construction work plan for country-office activities
- Coordinate construction priorities with UNICEF programmes, operations and government counterparts
- Prepare designs, technical specifications and other construction documents
- Support procurement and contracting for construction services
- Monitor construction works on site for quality, cost and schedule
- Advise the Supply and Construction Officer on delivery risks and corrective action
- Apply sustainable and cost-effective construction standards to programme infrastructure
Requirements
- Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in supply, business, engineering, architecture, construction, logistics, procurement, project management, public administration, environmental engineering, occupational safety or a related field
- Minimum six years of relevant experience in project monitoring, construction supply-chain management or a directly related technical field, reduced by three years for a relevant bachelor’s degree and by a further two years for a relevant master’s degree
- Understanding of development and humanitarian work
- Understanding of construction project cycles from needs assessment through planning, procurement, contracting, works monitoring and outcome evaluation
- Knowledge of green building standards
- Fluency in Spanish
