Staff Counsellor

Provides psychological counselling and staff-wellness services for WFP Somalia personnel and immediate family members. The counsellor supports staff during emergencies, conducts missions to field offices, delivers wellbeing training, coordinates with medical, security and human-resources partners, and maintains confidential records that strengthen resilience in a security-sensitive setting.

• Provide culturally sensitive psychosocial support, assessments and treatment plans for staff and immediate family members
• Provide psychosocial support during emergencies and after critical incidents
• Conduct missions to area and field offices to support staff and managers
• Prepare staff for Somalia deployments through briefings and counselling sessions
• Deliver workshops on stress management, team building, problem-solving and conflict resolution
• Support Staff Association wellbeing activities
• Plan, budget and report on counselling missions, trainings and wellbeing activities
• Coordinate with management, medical, wellness, security, human-resources and staff-association partners

• Advanced university degree in psychology, psychiatry, counselling or a related field, registration as a psychologist, psychiatrist or counsellor, or a first degree with additional relevant experience or training
• At least three years of relevant experience with an advanced degree, or at least five years with a first degree, in counselling, wellness and psychosocial support
• Experience providing counselling, psychosocial support or staff-wellness services in the Somali context
• Fluency in English and Somali
• Somali nationality

• Training or certification in stress management, critical-incident stress management, trauma-informed care, psychological first aid, mediation or staff wellbeing
• Experience supporting hardship or security-sensitive duty stations
