Job Description

Provides specialised legal support to the Special Prosecutor's Office of the Special Criminal Court in the Central African Republic. The role conducts legal research and analysis on international crimes, supports prosecutorial casework and legal drafting, and contributes to rigorous, rights-based criminal-justice processes that advance accountability for serious violations in a post-conflict setting.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analyse evidence from multiple sources
  • Support prosecutorial work on international-crimes cases
  • Draft legal documents in French
  • Contribute to criminal-justice processes at the Special Criminal Court
  • Support rigorous and rights-based case preparation

Role Requirements

  • Advanced law degree or bachelor's degree plus additional experience
  • At least 5 years of criminal-justice experience including one year as a prosecutor, legal specialist or specialised assistant on international-crimes cases
  • Excellent legal research and analysis skills
  • Excellent French legal drafting skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken French

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with prosecutions or investigations of international crimes
  • Experience with international or hybrid courts
  • Knowledge of civil-law criminal procedure
  • Working knowledge of English
