Social and Behaviour Change Specialist (RCCE)New

Leads risk communication and community engagement for Ebola preparedness and response across high-risk counties served by Yambio Field Office. The specialist uses social evidence, feedback and rumour tracking to shape interventions, strengthen surveillance links and build frontline capacity.

• Generate and use rapid social and behavioural evidence to target Ebola RCCE interventions and monitor results
• Design and implement evidence-based RCCE and accountability activities with strong community participation
• Lead community feedback, rumour-management and hotline mechanisms and ensure findings shape the response
• Strengthen community-based surveillance links across high-risk counties and points of entry
• Build the capacity of government counterparts, frontline workers and volunteers to deliver RCCE activities
• Coordinate RCCE planning with health, WASH, education, child protection, WHO and government partners
• Advocate for community engagement, mobilise resources and strengthen community structures for outbreak preparedness

• Advanced university degree in social and behavioral science, sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, communication or a relevant technical field
• At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in risk communication and community engagement, social and behaviour change, accountability to affected populations, public health emergency response or a related area
• Demonstrated skills in community engagement, risk management, humanitarian coordination, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation and stakeholder engagement
• Fluency in English

• Direct experience in Ebola, viral haemorrhagic fever or a comparable public-health emergency response
• Experience with a UN system agency or organisation
• Experience in South Sudan or a comparable humanitarian and emergency context
• Country-level experience in development, fragile or humanitarian settings
