Senior Community-Based Protection Assistant

The assistant works directly with displaced communities to identify risks and capacities, shape participatory protection strategies, support community-led services and referral pathways, monitor partner compliance, and connect communities with authorities and humanitarian actors.

Department: Protection Unit

• Integrate participatory and community-based approaches into protection strategies
• Maintain community networks and analyse political, social and cultural protection developments
• Support community-owned services addressing protection, health, livelihoods, education, child protection and gender-based violence
• Facilitate participatory assessments and consultation with displaced communities
• Build community representation and coordination structures and strengthen office capacity
• Collect age, gender and diversity data for programme and budget monitoring
• Receive and document individual requests and facilitate referrals to appropriate services
• Monitor implementing partners for compliance with protection policies and professional standards

• High school diploma with two years of relevant experience, or bachelor's degree or higher with one year of relevant experience
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of English or the UN working language of the duty station

• Temporary appointment targets 1 August to 31 December 2026
• Duty station carries hardship level D and non-family status
• Role requires substantial work outside the office and occasional field travel
