Job Description

Provides UN Women security and safety support across Africa, advising headquarters and field offices on risk management, compliance and incident response. The temporary role assesses threats, maintains security plans and networks, and delivers guidance and training that enable safe programme delivery.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Advise offices on security policy, risk prevention and safety measures
  • Conduct security assessments and recommend risk-management actions
  • Coordinate with government, UN and security-community counterparts
  • Maintain security information, plans, compliance systems and reporting
  • Investigate and report incidents affecting personnel, programmes and assets
  • Develop and deliver security and safety awareness training

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a listed or related field
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible security experience including 2 years at international level
  • Experience conducting security or safety risk assessments
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience of disaster or conflict operations
  • Experience implementing business-continuity programmes
  • Experience in regional or global security roles
  • Experience in the United Nations Security Management System
