Job Description

Manages UN Women's women's-economic-empowerment interventions in Sudan, delivering a joint agribusiness project with government, UN and civil-society partners. The role directs planning, budgets, monitoring, reporting, coordination and advocacy to improve women's economic opportunities and resilience.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Finalise annual workplans and project budgets and manage implementation
  • Prepare project documents and proposals with relevant thematic teams
  • Lead recruitment of implementing partners and oversee technical delivery
  • Monitor activities and finances using results-based-management tools
  • Develop monitoring tools and oversee partner and beneficiary field monitoring
  • Prepare quarterly and donor reports and assure their quality
  • Lead coordination with UN agencies, INGOs, government and project partners
  • Manage advocacy, knowledge products and capacity development for partners

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in rural extension, business management, social sciences, human rights, gender or women's studies, international development or a related field
  • First-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible international experience in development-project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Technical experience in women's economic empowerment
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Project or programme management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or MSP
  • Experience coordinating with government agencies, CSOs, UN agencies, INGOs or donors
  • Experience working in the UN system
  • Experience leading or managing a team
