Relief Worker

Assesses refugee households for social transfer and emergency assistance, maintains case records and refers protection or social-work needs. The relief worker conducts home visits and socioeconomic studies, recommends crisis support, follows cash and in-kind delivery, and contributes to community surveys.

Department: Relief and Social Services Programme

• Conduct desk reviews and home visits to assess refugee eligibility for social transfers
• Collect socioeconomic data and periodically reassess active assistance cases
• Maintain family records, database entries and social-study reports
• Refer refugees facing protection risks or needing additional social-work support
• Recommend emergency cash or in-kind assistance following crisis assessments
• Follow delivery and collection of approved assistance to eligible families
• Participate in refugee-community surveys and socioeconomic studies

• University degree in social work, sociology, psychology, guidance and counselling, social anthropology or a related field
• At least three years of relevant experience providing social work, psychosocial support or counselling in development or humanitarian programmes
• English and Arabic at UN Level II
• Residency in Syria within commuting distance of the duty station with authorisation to work there
• Willingness and ability to drive an Agency vehicle for field travel

• Roster for daily-paid relief-worker assignments across Syria
• Daily rate: USD 27.12
• Assignments last up to three months with possible extension subject to funding, performance and need
